The directorate of Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve is the budget institution established by the State Service of Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The goal of Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve – to ensure implementation of the international biosphere monitoring program, execute ecological experiments and protect the stability of natural complexes and components of the Biosphere Reserve. There are 13 employees working in the governing body, 8 of them are qualified specialists.
