Wet deciduous Bukta forestForests cover around 1/3 of the whole Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve territory, i.e. around 6000 ha. According the data of standing forests structural composition, the larger part dominates soft deciduous forests - 54 %, coniferous woods– 38 %, hard leafy forests – 7 %. According to composition of trees’ species the distribution is following:Hornbeams of wet Bukta forest pinewoods – 38 %, birch trees – 31 %, European alders – 14 %. Other trees’ species compose around 10 %.

More than half of wet Bukta forest is covered by the Natura 2000 forests habitats, most of them are grown by the species enlisted in the Lithuanian Red data book: Bedstraw ivies, European vegetate in Bukta forestEuropean wood Barleys, Solid-tubered concave and  transitional (Corydalis cava), Bear's Garlic (Allium ursinum), Lesser Hairy-bromes (Bromopsis benekenii), etc. Protected bird species nest there: White-tailed Eagles, Lesser Spotted Eagles, Honey Buzzards, Goshawks, Black Storks, Crane. White-backed Woodpeckers and Middle Spotted Woodpeckers breed in hollows of trees.
